Bagmati, Central Himalaya
Langtang is the closest high Himalayan trekking region to Kathmandu, reached by a drive of around seven hours to Syabrubesi. The valley sits inside Langtang National Park and is home to Tamang communities, yak pastures and glaciers beneath Langtang Lirung. Most people walk to Kyanjin Gompa at about 3,870 metres and climb Tserko Ri for views across the range. The valley was badly hit by the 2015 earthquake and has since been rebuilt, with tea houses and villages welcoming trekkers again. Langtang is quieter than Everest and Annapurna. March to May and October to November are the best months.
