Gandaki, Central Nepal
Pokhara is Nepal's relaxed lakeside city, about 820 metres above sea level, with the Annapurna range filling the northern skyline. Phewa Lake is the centre of town for boating and lakeside cafes, and nearby Sarangkot is the classic sunrise viewpoint and the take-off point for tandem paragliding. Other highlights include the World Peace Pagoda, Davis Falls, Gupteshwor Cave and the Seti River gorge. Pokhara is also the starting point for Annapurna treks such as Poon Hill and Annapurna Base Camp. It is a 25-minute flight or a 6-to-7-hour drive from Kathmandu.
