Trek into the Annapurna Sanctuary, a ring of giant peaks, to reach Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 metres.
The Annapurna Base Camp trek leads into the Annapurna Sanctuary, a high basin surrounded by Annapurna I, Machapuchare, Hiunchuli and other giant peaks. You walk through terraced villages, rhododendron forest and bamboo groves before the landscape opens up above the tree line. The route climbs gradually, with a night at Machapuchare Base Camp before the final day to Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 metres. On the way down you can soak in the natural hot springs at Jhinu Danda. This 10-day plan includes travel from and back to Kathmandu, a licensed guide and a porter, and tea-house stays throughout.
It is a moderate trek with long days and a lot of stone steps. You do not need climbing experience, but you should be able to walk for 5 to 7 hours a day.
